Out-Right Namibia (ORN) mainly works in the areas of
Human Rights Advocacy and Defense
Promote and protect the rights of LGBTIQ+ individuals through legal support, documentation, and advocacy.
Engage policymakers and communities to address violations and demand equality and justice.
SRHR and HIV/AIDS Services for LGBTIQ+ Persons
Provide inclusive sexual and reproductive health services, including HIV prevention and treatment.
Ensure safe, stigma-free access to care tailored to the needs of LGBTIQ+ communities.
Psychosocial and Counselling Services
Offer mental health support to LGBTIQ+ individuals facing stigma, trauma, or discrimination.
Services include individual counseling, peer support, and crisis intervention.
Legal Literacy Trainings
Educate LGBTIQ+ persons and allies about their legal rights and protections under the law.
Empower communities to navigate legal systems and access justice when rights are violated.
SOGIESC Trainings
Build awareness and sensitivity on sexual and gender diversity for institutions and communities.
Train service providers, officials, and others to improve inclusion and reduce discrimination.
Legal and Policy Reform
Advocate for laws and policies that protect and uphold the rights of LGBTIQ+ individuals.
Push for the repeal of discriminatory laws and the enactment of inclusive legal frameworks.
Public Outreach on Sexual and Gender Diversity
Engage the public through campaigns, media, and community events to promote understanding.
Challenge harmful stereotypes and foster acceptance of diverse identities and expressions.
Research to Support LGBTIQ+ Programming
Generate data to inform evidence-based programs, advocacy, and policy interventions.
Highlight gaps, needs, and trends affecting LGBTIQ+ people to drive effective responses.
Goals and Tasks
ORN’s original aims and objectives at formation of the trust are: To generally advance, develop and further the rights, interests and expectations of the LGBTIQ+ community in Namibia. The trust further aims to integrate a legal, ethical and human rights dimension into the response to sexual reproduction and human rights of the Namibian LGBTI persons without discrimination”.
The following are the agreed thematic contexts which define the specific aims, objectives and environment where ORN will operate in the new strategic period:
Advocating for the provision of access to inclusive and affordable legal services for the LGBTIQ+ community.
Advocate for SRHR for the LGBTIQ+ community at health facilities and educational institutions
